Challenge: Located beside a major underground station and key transport routes, the lower-rise buildings required façade solutions that would balance visual continuity with demanding environmental performance. The design had to minimise solar gain and external noise while supporting the broader sustainability targets of the development, including BREEAM Outstanding.
Solution: Crystal Units supplied bespoke IGUs incorporating solar control and laminated glass to manage solar heat gain and sound transmission. These units aligned with the aesthetic and technical needs of the residential façades, helping to create energy-efficient, quiet, and comfortable homes while supporting off-site prefabrication methods used across the scheme.
Project summary:
Crystal Units supplied high-performance glazing for the lower-rise residential buildings within Plot A1 of the Canada Water regeneration. These buildings surround The Founding, the prominent 35-storey tower, and collectively contribute to the masterplan’s goal of delivering thousands of new homes in a sustainable, mixed-use urban district. Delivered in partnership with Salisbury Commercial, the glazing package featured solar control and laminated IGUs designed to meet stringent energy efficiency and acoustic standards while complementing the scheme’s contemporary architectural language. These homes form part of British Land’s vision for Canada Water as a thriving, community-first neighbourhood with excellent connectivity and design.
