Toughened Glass

Enhanced safety and durability for various applications.

Toughened glass is up to five times stronger than regular glass, making it ideal for areas prone to impact and high stress.

Maximum strength and safety with toughened glass

Toughened glass, also known as tempered glass, is specially engineered for strength, safety, and long-term performance. It undergoes a precise thermal process where the glass is heated to around 620°C and then rapidly cooled using high-pressure air. This creates a compressed outer surface and a strong internal core, making it up to five times stronger than standard glass.

In the event of breakage, toughened glass shatters into small, blunt fragments rather than sharp shards, significantly reducing the risk of injury. This makes it an ideal choice for safety-critical and high-traffic areas such as doors, windows, partitions, balustrades, shower screens, and skylights. Its ability to withstand heavy impact and extreme temperature changes also makes it well-suited for both residential and commercial applications.

Whether used in modern interiors or large-scale architectural glazing, toughened glass delivers reliable protection, durability, and peace of mind.

Heat Soaked Glass for Added Safety

For projects requiring extra security and reliability, we offer heat-soaked toughened glass, which further minimises the risk of spontaneous breakage.

  • Minimised Risk of Spontaneous Breakage: Heat soaking reduces the chances of spontaneous breakage caused by microscopic impurities of nickel sulfide (NiS). This process involves heating the glass to around 290°C, accelerating the expansion of these impurities, inducing glass with critical NiS inclusions to break in a controlled environment rather than when on the building.
  • Enhanced Safety: By reducing the risk of spontaneous breakage, heat-soaked glass makes buildings safer environments, minimising the potential for injury and increasing reliability in high-rise buildings, curtain walling, and structural applications.
