The Arc

Challenge: The Arc’s prominent corner location and dual-use function demanded glazing that could fulfil both aesthetic and high-performance requirements. Achieving energy efficiency and solar control without compromising the slim, expressive architectural intent was critical, particularly for the residential units exposed to significant solar gain.

Solution: Crystal Units delivered custom IGUs featuring heat-strengthened laminated and solar control glass, tailored to reduce solar ingress, enhance thermal comfort, and maintain façade uniformity. These units played a key role in helping The Arc meet its environmental targets while elevating the lived experience for residents and users alike.

Project summary:

Completed in 2023, The Arc delivers a compelling balance of residential elegance and commercial utility across its seven-storey podium and upper-level tower. Amenities include a cinema, yoga room, gym, golf simulator, and a communal rooftop terrace for residents. The façade incorporates heat-strengthened laminated and solar control glazing to support the building’s sustainability ambitions, including BREEAM Excellent and WELL Gold certifications.

Crystal Units supplied precision-engineered insulating glass units (IGUs) to meet strict energy performance, acoustic insulation, and visual clarity criteria – vital for a site positioned along one of East London’s busiest corridors. The glazing design supports both thermal regulation and solar management while contributing to the project’s architectural coherence.
