Crystal Units is the UK’s only licensed manufacturer able to edge enamel Guardian SunGuard™ solar control and ClimaGuard™ low-emissivity coated glass using Guardian System TEA (True Edge Application).

Unlike conventional processing, where certain high-performance coatings may need to be removed from the glass edge before enamelling, the TEA process allows a specially developed ceramic frit to be applied directly over compatible coated surfaces. During heat treatment, the coating beneath the enamel is dissolved and the ceramic frit fuses with the glass, creating a durable, optically consistent edge finish.

This gives façade contractors and glazing installers greater design freedom when specifying solar control and Low-E coated glass for structural glazing, curtain walling, glass roofs, spandrel panels and other high-performance architectural applications, while avoiding the visible streaking or inconsistent finish that can result from mechanical coating removal.
