Challenge: A miscalculation in the amount of space required behind the spandrel panels for suitable insulation to be installed occurred. There was not enough room to install thick enough insulation to bring the overall building U value down to specified levels.
Solution: CUIN Ultra was used in place of a standard insulated spandrel panel and insulation. With a U value of just 0.2W/mK, no insulation was required to be installed behind the panel. Subsequently, the building passed its U value requirement.
Project summary:
Design constraints left limited space behind the spandrel panels, making it difficult to install insulation thick enough to achieve the building’s required U-values. To overcome this, C.U.in Ultra was chosen in place of a standard insulated spandrel panel and insulation. With an ultra-low U-value of just 0.2W/m²K, it eliminated the need for additional insulation behind the panel – allowing the building to meet its thermal performance targets without compromise.
