Escapade Silverstone combines bold architectural design with carefully considered glazing performance. Working with Arkay Windows, Crystal Units supplied high-performance double-glazed units designed to manage solar gain while maintaining clarity across large glazed elevations.

With a focus on occupant comfort, the specification balances light transmission, temperature control, and acoustic insulation—creating a space that feels consistent and refined, even within the fast-paced environment of Silverstone.

Challenge

The project called for extensive glazing to maximise views and natural light, but this introduced two key pressures:

• Managing solar gain across large glass surfaces exposed to direct sunlight

• Reducing external noise in a high-activity location

The glazing needed to perform on both fronts without compromising the clean, open aesthetic of the design.

Solution

Crystal Units supplied high-performance double glazing incorporating SunGuard SN51, selected for its strong solar control properties.

This specification allows natural light to pass through while limiting excess heat build-up, helping maintain a more stable internal environment throughout the day.

In parallel, the glazing configuration was optimised to deliver the best achievable acoustic reduction, supporting a quieter and more comfortable internal space despite the surrounding environment
